Selecting the right platform
It’s not easy to pick a content management or digital experience platform today: the market has matured, and all currently available products can manage content without problems. Instead of editors, today’s systems revolve more around end users – in other words, your clients. Content management systems (CMSs) are also more and more active in the management of clients’ experiences. For this reason, they often call themselves digital experience platforms (DXPs), emphasizing that they are more focused on clients than editors. While editors remain important, the possibilities to distinguish yourself in this domain have become limited.
All this means that selecting a CMS involves other factors than was previously the case. In addition to the user experience, this includes the pace at which new functionalities can be rolled out (time-to-market) – functionalities in which technologies such as cloud and automation are essential. It is a consequence of the agile approach to projects.
